Our Testimony
Boldly Proclaiming the Greatest Story Ever Told
On a hot September day in 2019, my family and I attended a Sunday service at Valley Church in West Des Moines. Church wasn’t a regular part of our routine. Growing up, it wasn’t something I prioritized. I went just enough to consider myself a “good Christian,” but I lived with one foot in and one foot out.
At that point, life looked great on the surface. We had just welcomed our third child into our family. My career was taking off, I was making more money than I’d ever imagined, and I had a wonderful wife of over 10 years and two daughters who brought me endless joy. But despite all the success and blessings, something inside me felt empty. I was restless—chasing "more" but never feeling fulfilled.
That Sunday changed everything.
The message that day was about being bold in your faith and growing spiritually. For the first time, I was hit with a question that wouldn’t let go: “What if all this Jesus stuff is true?” I had always doubted the supernatural elements of the Bible, brushing them off as unbelievable. But I couldn’t shake the thought: if this is true, it’s the most important truth for mankind. And if that’s the case, why wasn’t I living like it?
That morning in church, I prayed differently—desperately. I asked God to show me how to follow Him. I felt broken and lost, but nothing happened immediately. No warm feelings. No clarity. Just silence. I went home, grabbed a few drinks, and tried to move on.
But God wasn’t done with me yet.
From Brokenness to Boldness
Later that day, I became severely ill. I was rushed to the hospital and eventually diagnosed with HLH, a rare and life-threatening blood disorder. For weeks, I fought for my life as doctors struggled to figure out what was wrong. During that time, I prayed like I’d never prayed before—pleading for healing and begging for answers. What I didn’t realize then was that God was using this trial to break me down and rebuild me in Him.
Through His grace, I survived. The experience became a turning point in my faith. It wasn’t just about surviving an illness—it was about becoming someone new. My career became less important, my family became my priority, and my faith in Christ became the foundation of everything I do. God answered my prayer to grow bolder in my faith, and that transformation continues to this day.
Why Victory Worn?
In the years since, I’ve spent countless hours reading Scripture, studying biblical history, and growing in my faith. But one thing I’ve learned is that faith doesn’t look the same for everyone.
Victory Worn was born out of a desire to extend the reach of the Gospel to people who might not feel fully understood or represented in every Christian space—people like me. It’s for those who feel out of place or overlooked—the tattooed, the ones with messy pasts, the unconventional, and the ones carrying scars from their journeys. It’s for anyone who’s walked through darkness and found redemption in Christ, no matter where they’ve come from
Jesus didn’t come for the perfect—He came for the imperfect, the broken, the ones who feel like they don’t belong. Victory Worn is a way to share that message boldly. It’s more than just clothing; it’s a movement to proclaim that yes, this Jesus stuff is real, and His love and grace are for everyone.

Victory Worn is for people who know what it’s like to feel lost, to feel unworthy, and to be redeemed.
